So if you follow my Abuela account on Fedi, you've already seen me growling about genslop repeatedly the last couple of weeks. This week was especially bad, racking up 7 strikes, including two fresh total bans, so when I got to a certain OTHER MV that earned a red flag, I was already Very Much Quite Done. You'll see what I mean when you get to it. Sorry, not sorry.
In a further administrative note, going forward, I am going to start dropping weeks that get to this point (late Friday Eastern US time) and aren't finished. When reviews take this long, it just exacerbates the problem when I can't even start reviewing until Monday/Tuesday, especially since Seoul keeps insisting on starting me with around a hundred videos in a week. I will try not to make it a habit, but my health isn't exactly getting better, so we'll have to see how it goes.
Okay, now that that's out of the way ... we've got 85 videos in the listing this week, covering everything from instrumental jazz and neoclassical piano to hiphop and hard rock. Want to get your dance on? Starship debuted a new BG - IDID - plus comebacks by UNIS, ATEEZ, and BADVILLAIN. Looking for the freshest hiphop? Check out the latest from OSSH, JJAX, or AXN with MIMS. Craving something more rock? Check out the debut of AxMxP and the latest from Xdinary Heroes. Or if folk is more you speed, try Dailog or li:vi. R&B your jam? We've got plenty, including new releases by TAEHO, LO HAVI, and Gavy NJ. Think your interests are even more niche than any of that? We've got jazz from BIG Naughty with Lee Mujin, Kpopera from La Poem, and disco from PENTAGON's HUI! So grab a snack and/or drink and peruse the list however makes you happiest.
Banner artist slots this week go to Bambam (GOT7) and ATEEZ, because I am that bitch, with additional nods marked with little green hearts.

π picks of the week
see item below for specifics
note: despite the ordering above, subsequent releases by the same artist have been pulled up under the first entry in the interests of making them easier to find.
citygodok - Run (USURY ACADEMY OST) β οΈ https://youtu.be/yCB0gaBsM08
genre: rock
cw: flashing, gang violence, blood/injury, implied murder, high school bullying, organized crime
note: video is entirely clips from the movie, so may contain oilers. Elevated warning for all the violence
WENDY (Red Velvet) - Sunkiss π€ https://youtu.be/5PS2cJsSJrI
genre: pop-rock
cw: flashing, unsteady cam, surrealism, lens flares
note: CC in 5 tracks, including English. Oddly, it feels like the longer hair makes her look way older?
AxMxP - I Did It (debut) β οΈ https://youtu.be/6_b7ZLFoTQU
genre: pop-rock
cw: camera motion, lens flares, flashing
note: elevating the warning level for the way the camera motion almost took me out, ooph
DOHA - Gone https://youtu.be/ApvoobPVhOE
genre: R&B
note: lyric video where the only motion is the lyrics scroll
Gavy NJ - Happiness (2025) https://youtu.be/JbVmAZKEK50
genre: R&B
cw: flashing, lens flares
note: a re-record off the group's debut... including references to those previous members (which is how you get a bunch of babies singing a song that might be as old they are (details on most of the new lineup are still largely ??s))
Shin Seunghun - She Was https://youtu.be/i62gv0bwLOQ
genre: adult contempoary
cw: implied MCD/grieving
note: potential hanky warning!
Hawoong - No! https://youtu.be/nlrH6XutrUo
genre: folk rock
cw: doll
note: comes with lyrics in both Korean and English, though they may be a bit hard to read. Other than the lyrics, the only motion is dust/light motes. Not sure if that makes the doll better or worse
SHIRTS BOY FRANK - My Dear Natural Disaster https://youtu.be/eT0tn9lNg7M
genre: rock
cw: flashing, supernatural elements (vague), guns, unsteady cam
note: the whole thing is soaked in classic horror tropes/vibes, but it's mostly implicit (as opposed to explicit), so the warnings are vague as well. Especially with that cop-out ending
Adachi Yuto (PENTAGON) - Dive In (Japanese release) https://youtu.be/H3G7xRAVYZ0
genre: dance pop
cw: lens flares
note: a straightforward performance piece with deceptive choreo
Benny Char, Bob James, KiO, Hugh Char - Anyone Else (audio only) https://youtu.be/Ird9wg0UCVE
genre: jazz/R&B
note: song's in English and I still can't make it make sense very well π
wishing4hue - venom (audio only) π© https://youtu.be/K7HxG6kSpLo
genre: R&B
cw: f-bombs (semi-censored)
note: cover art might be slop. π cover bears the explicit content sticker, so yes, a CW on an audio-only
Atodablue - Drifting (audio only) https://youtu.be/Q8m2RrHQc2w
genre: hiphop
note: it might be the suggestion of the smile on the cover art, but it feels upbeat/happy and light
OSSH - Love Pt. 2 (ClichΓ©) (feat. YUNG CHENS) https://youtu.be/sxgW0OI85-g
genre: hiphop
cw: f-bombs (censored), smoking
note: comes with hard subs in yellow-orange, which works okay since the camera is stationary, so the lyrics are always on dark asphalt.
Jeon Gunho - All The Days We Loved β οΈ https://youtu.be/INhwQp1RKjE
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
cw: abusive relationship, lens flares
note: elevated warning for the explicitly abusive actions of the ML. If the FL did indeed leave that, then good for her
seoun - A long night π© https://youtu.be/Yzc9W84LQnc
genre: folk rock
note: the shadows make me worry the image is yet more genslop, so flagging for that [[I hate it here]]
Noel - Can you hear me https://youtu.be/fNfvm3wfeL8
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
note: potential hanky warning?
POLO - Yeonnam https://youtu.be/v6dIa6K6g_4
genre: R&B
note: guessing the note is that there's no cover art available
JUNHEE (A.C.E) - Umbrella (10:00) https://youtu.be/WHskTpyR1XY
genre: dance pop
cw: surrealism
note: CC is in Korean or auto-generated English, but then auto-translate kicked in, showing the differences translation introduce.
Ralph - BAPPA (feat. KIM MINCHUR) (audio only) https://youtu.be/FFqifuasaXk
genre: hiphop
note: a bit jazzy, on the short side
W4VE - Face Me https://youtu.be/ESx_cIL50ks
genre: pop-rock
note: lyric video where the only motion is the lyrics
toyou. - Focus Mood (audio only) https://youtu.be/H_CzxVrkHdE
genre: jazz instrumental
note: bit short for a "focusing" piece. As per often, I had to turn down the volume because of the lofi crackle-pop, but otherwise a nice bit of jazzy piano, even if the reverb was maaaaybe a bit overdone. π
toyou. - Candle (audio only) https://youtu.be/WteoEKdvOfQ
genre: jazz instrumental
cw: stereo strobing
note: the way certain layers strobe back and forth between right and left may be unsettling in some ears.
Hidden Stories - Beyond the Reason https://youtu.be/WMH5P-EzPfs
genre: folk rock
cw: water glare, lens flares
note: feels like a string of clips from a travel channel program π which means I'm missing my ocean again, sigh
Damu - Please be a dream (Our Sweet Home OST) π β οΈ https://youtu.be/iT8BaXkQcF0
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
cw: blood, MCD, supernatural elements (ritual occultism), lens flares
note: elevated warning level due to the video being entirely clips from a supernatural/horror movie, which may include spoilers
mellow button - How to Whisper Goodbye (audio only) https://youtu.be/xpWl5ZOZIig
genre: neoclassical instrumental
note: another piano interlude, should you need one
mellow button - A Sleepless Star (audio only) https://youtu.be/kFrYuzyLuQU
genre: neoclassical instrumental
note: soft piano interlude
Heuleul - PLAY PLAY PLAY (audio only) https://youtu.be/u-BVksi52t8
genre: R&B
note: I'm not saying I got sidetracked by the fat skateboarding cat on the cover art, but I'm not not saying that? π
CHAEYOUNG (TWICE) - Shoot (Firecracker) π€ https://youtu.be/tl2luF-JRlU
genre: dance pop
cw: surrealism, lens flares, flashing, full head masks, fireworks/pyrotechnics
note: CC in 8 tracks, including English. Sooo many Alice in Wonderland references
BIG Naughty - Bye Bye (feat. Lee Mujin) π€ π https://youtu.be/QjyzTxBjgRA
genre: jazz
cw: background flashing, lens flares
note: CC in English, Japanese, and Korean. Not a collab I was expecting but I'm here for it. So much fun, so happy for both of them (and all of us)
UNIS - Moshi Moshi (Japanese release) https://youtu.be/DrU5bxPcH0s
genre: dance pop
note: the kawaii-ness factor is off the charts, it's a bit much to take
A.TRAIN, THE FISHERS - SELL FISH https://youtu.be/UHU-ssUvSak
genre: alt rock
cw: flashing, supernatural elements (sheet ghost), f-bombs
note: the English translation as hard subs was a choice.
BamBam (GOT7) - Dancing By Myself (feat. TIMETHAI) (Thai release) π€ π https://youtu.be/gl75wh6xLSA
genre: dance pop
cw: lens flares, background flashing, fireworks/pyrotechnics
note: CC in 8 tracks, including English. I find it hard to believe Bambam would be dancing alone for long when he barely manages it at all through this video. π€£ Lets see how much crossing the streams this does.
Jackson Wang - Let Loose https://youtu.be/hrtYrPSI8Pw
genre: dance pop
cw: aggressive flashing, soaking wet Jackson (fully clothed), fireworks/pyrotechnics
note: Jackson Louise Wang! I am very Disappointed! All those CC options and no English?? I realize the song's in English, which is actually the opposite of an excuse, so try again.
Rivlin - WET MY BODY (feat. KIDO) https://youtu.be/atUs_huZJf0
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing, shirtless men, pool antics
note: skirting the line on how sexual these scenes are meant to read, but probably not safe for work, regardless
gmne - fallin https://youtu.be/NcFVqWQ2MQk
genre: R&B
note: modest female vocal and smooth groove, this is more of a performance video than a narrative
Ghim Reezn - Your Side π€ https://youtu.be/k6d0uks3udc
genre: dance pop
note: CC in English. The way I have my CC set up, I had to double check that this was in fact a lyric video cuz the hard coded lyrics are almost entirely covered by the CC. Which is ... fine, really, if a bit odd. especially for a video that has so little going on otherwise.
LO HAVI - bow-wow (feat. Lee Seungah) https://youtu.be/pjI83pWNqIA
genre: R&B
cw: flashing
note: aww, what a sweet furbaby pupper!
Cho Hee - Unfate Love (Twelve OST) https://youtu.be/dw8FRttIfc4
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
cw: supernatural elements (creatures, magic)
note: video is entirely clips from the drama, so may contain spoilers.
HUI (Pentagon) - Lights, Camera, Action (컨νΌλμ€λ§¨ KR OST) https://youtu.be/c9Pd5Iq9gK4
genre: disco
cw: lens flares, (dis)organized crime, guns, violence, camera flashes
note: video is entirely clips from the drama, so may contain spoilers. Okay, those are almost definitely spoilers, but maybe not really surprising?
SLAY - Jenny https://youtu.be/lNM3YwMB7RM
genre: R&B
cw: lens flares
note: interesting framing device for the MV
BOB_U - To You (feat. Kim Si-eun) (audio only) https://youtu.be/5NkPA92AlAo
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
note: a stripped-down ballad that starts out just piano and (female) voice, then adds strings towards the mid-end. And yet I am rather meh on this song
NANA - GOD π© https://youtu.be/20Hy-Zwy3i4
genre: dance pop
cw: implied nudity, shirtless men, surrealism
note: sigh...English CC track is in hangul, so retracting the badge. I ... am trying to stay hopeful that the crowd shots are computer-processed for weirdness rather than generated, but flagging anyway. With an additional note that this could be blasphemous towards Christianity, but that's not really my place to call, being ex-Christian π
Morning Coffee - When I was still young https://youtu.be/UYT9YpxUcs0
genre: R&B
cw: passing of a beloved pet (implied)
note: the animation is cute and sweet and ... well, you see that CW
Mozy - Sometimes (feat. Teak Woo) (audio only) https://youtu.be/qv24EIY0QzQ
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
note: feels decidedly melancholy ... or maybe that's just me
Joyce - ME π https://youtu.be/xG8ybNi2zOw
genre: dance pop
note: another MV that's more performance than narrative, but disappointed that she's just ... sitting there. I'm aware that not all singers are dancers and it's her call, but still disappointed.
Lee A-Young - Even if you can't love you can miss https://youtu.be/IdbkGE08-1w
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
note: again, a seated performance (unsurprising, both because this is a ballad and because it's labeled as a special clip) with a very soft filter and an increase in brightness. Oh yeah, and the lyrics in the lower left that are basically impossible to read for most of the runtime due to being both tiny and white on bright light colors most of the time.
LA POEM - Land of the Morning (Bon Appetit, Your Majesty OST) https://youtu.be/_8oHGI__fkE
genre: Kpopera
note: a live clip instead of a drama clip version, which at least spares everyone from the delicious foods? π€£
KEN - That Spring, That Memory https://youtu.be/WvXTaWss9Qs
genre: adult contemporary (ballad)
note: not me getting distracted the entire time alternately by the way the in-ear is hanging off his ear and the number of records on display behind him π I'm sorry, I'm easily distracted this week! I'm sure the song is fine!
Xdinary Heroes - more than i like https://youtu.be/_L7wVbtpgm8
genre: hard rock
cw: unsteady self-cam, lens flares, flashing stage lights
note: so ridiculously cute π€£ Like a bunch of fluffy puppies
Kim daeyeon - Come to mind (audio only) https://youtu.be/4qlmFuxxbvs
genre: R&B (ballad)
note: cover art features a Very Good Pupper
Zoe - Mistletoe (audio only) https://youtu.be/3kEOZALKM7I
genre: R&B
note: I might have been a bit worried this was going to be an out-of-season Christmas song, but doesn't fit. Her voice is very high, though, so if that's not your bag, continue on
Zanmang Loopy - I Like My Curves https://youtu.be/CauPb_yVlvE
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing
note: we could always use more body positivity, especially in idol Kpop. Do what makes you happy, Loopy!
Choi Gyuyeol - Blue https://youtu.be/MDfY1W-Jb8g
genre: spoken word/jazz
cw: flashing
note: discordant to the point of possibly being unsettling
Kim Yunsoo - ONE, TWO, THREE, I'm on my way to you now π https://youtu.be/U8qdVPQqDag
genre: folk rock
note: yeah, I'm a complete sucker for acoustic guitar, so of course this drew me in basically immediately
Sonnet - Wishing For Rain https://youtu.be/lT5l-2xL5uU
genre: R&B (ballad)
cw: lens flares, flashing, unsteady cam (mild)
note: picking up hints of jazz and even a bit of gospel? Song is entirely in English
JJAX - late. (feat. Ayiah) https://youtu.be/wHBE0QViKFA
genre: hiphop/R&B
note: the yellow-orange for the hard subs was a good choice for a B&W vid, but still needed work
NVM (Never Mind) - Depersonalization https://youtu.be/pwsRCQOWG7o
genre: rock
cw: unsteady cam, flashing, blindfolds
note: video is a bit trippy in places
Jang Wooyoung (2PM) - Think Too Much (feat. DAMINI) π€ π https://youtu.be/mIy4ACKR1Ag
genre: dance pop
cw: lens flares, surrealism, full face masks
note: CC in 7 tracks, including English. Yup, it's me, I'm definitely guilty of thinking too much. π And still snickering over his having to start using his full name. Also, the off-shots at the end are adorable, especially the kitty
BADVILLAIN - THRILLER https://youtu.be/s-KjDJFOh5s
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing, lens flares, fireworks/pyrotechnics
note: CC is only in Korean, but then auto-translate kicked on, but of course the timing is off. How old are these girls again? π
PLAVE - Hide and Seek https://youtu.be/Dss64cWKtqA
genre: pop-rock
cw: animated flashing
note: CC in 10 tracks, including English. The animators' attention to detail is everything
ki:ssy - Little Puppy (Eng ver) https://youtu.be/AqbEEsmq4PM
genre: folk rock
note: I could have done without the background whimpering, but that's a personal thing
Dailog - campfire https://youtu.be/QDjPwdGOO0w
genre: folk rock
cw: full body fur suit (teddy bear)
note: oh look, another lyric video where the lyrics are hard to read because they don't stand out enough from the underlying video all the time. Wasn't sure we were going to see Teddy-ssi this time, but there it was
Dailog - pajama party https://youtu.be/gJyEurXp8TE
genre: folk rock
cw: full fur suit (teddy bear), disco ball
note: at this stage, it's probably safe to just say the bear is part of the band and always going to be present eventually, but still going to tag for it. Lyrics could've been made more distinct, but it's whatever
YUNGIN, DeVita, GRAY - SLIDIN' https://youtu.be/PB_weQFxa6c
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing graphic effects (various)
note: after the molly reference, the way the graphics turned psychedelic was not so surprising
IDID - CHAN-RAN (debut) https://youtu.be/ddzl1LDe9Ec
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing, lens flares
note: CC in 5 tracks, including English. I see those names, boys, but Captain says I'm not supposed to look at any younger groups. π€£
AXN - AH YEAH (feat. MIMS) https://youtu.be/xb4UDmL1n78
genre: hiphop
cw: lens flares, flashing (video "artifacts")
note: yeah, I think we've had enough videos to mark this as That Saloon. Comes with hard subs, tucked into the very bottom right where they're easily missed
E.Jean - Providence (audio only) https://youtu.be/2C74KImTic8
genre: pop-rock
note: a little jazzy, a little funky
SOORIN - Sure Thing https://youtu.be/0HkS2paWdYg
genre: dance pop
cw: water glare, lens flares, dripping wet Soorin (fully clothed)
note: light and fun with that fully SoCal relaxed vibe
Sung Hajin - Today's Temperature (audio only) https://youtu.be/EMj-8efOs50
genre: folk rock
note: it's a little synthy compared to usual folk rock but also so forgettable I couldn't think where else to file it
Same genre - Tomorrow https://youtu.be/gHVEu7bTdbM
genre: folk rock
cw: lens flares
note: sleepy kitty is sleepy and this is such a sleepy song, who can blame her?
HEZIIN - Farewell comes to me (Our Music Drama OST) https://youtu.be/dRwmLSe9mdM
genre: R&B (ballad)
cw: lens flares
note: video is entirely clips from the drama (which, now that the tracks have been published beyond YT, I can actually say that's the English title)
YUQI (i-dle) - M.O. π€ π© https://youtu.be/nZFH-gZa9R4
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing, lens flares, violence, less the subtle racist shit
note: CC in English and Korean. Just when you thought that red flag was always and only ever going to mean genslop, something else comes along. Videos like this make me so glad I've left The Bad Places, oh lort. Yuqi, Yuqi, Yuqi, why? Bad girl, no biscuits. I watched the whole thing so you don't have to. Seriously, don't. The song's fine, but this video is a whole ass hot steaming mess of What Not To Do.
Doh Kyungsoo (EXO) - DUMB (feat. PENOMECO) π€ π https://youtu.be/3AwhWIypKxg
genre: pop-rock
cw: animated flashing, unsteady cam, bullying, fireworks/pyrotechnics
note: CC in 7 tracks, including English. Not gonna lie, when I first saw this collab was coming, I was ... skeptical. And then I hit the video and couldn't stop smiling. I love this, I love them, I want and need more. Nerd rock alliance? Nerd rock alliance! They're so stupid, it's perfect.
Ki:XΓ - ON_LINE https://youtu.be/MSNwo7RpnBI
genre: hiphop
cw: flashing, surrealism
note: if you're going straight down the list, this will be a bit of genre whiplash all right. Also a fun time, just very different
KURO - love is gone https://youtu.be/ylCfr9Onm2Y
genre: pop-rock
note: lyric video, but the lyrics aren't well displayed. A lot of effector use on the vocal layer.
ATEEZ - Ash (Japanese release) π€ β οΈπ https://youtu.be/cRFWo5vWrcw
genre: dance pop
cw: flashing, implied MCD
note: CC in 6 tracks, including English. The lore is lore-ing. Elevated warning for the implied MCD. Who's dead? We've got a couple candidates, actually, from as minor as Yunho's brother to as major as all of them. Or, well, given that final shot, not quite all of them. Maybe (ask me about Halazia, go ahead, ask).
Lee Boram - Hello (USURY ACADEMY (2023) OST) β οΈ https://youtu.be/7wiDSFiTXzc
genre: jazz
cw: organized crime/gang violence, water glare, blood/injury, implied murder (attempted)
note: video is entirely clips from the movie, so may contain spoilers. Elevated warning level due to the level of violence
li:vi - Obvious (audio only) https://youtu.be/IAC_wuZt8Gg
genre: folk rock
note: something calming after the violence of the previous video ... or just in general
YUI - Jestai ryooiki https://youtu.be/Hs5jEYKChmk
genre: jazz
cw: visual "artifacts," lens flares
note: it's a relatively long clip for this sort of thing (~21s), but it always feels odd to me to loop a clip and call that a visualizer.
YUI - i gotta see https://youtu.be/i2iWnlLX8DU
genre: R&B
cw: video "artifacts," lens flares
note: again with being a looping of a much shorter video (~13s), except for one loop towards the end that inserts a bit more
ARTIe In The Room - Good Boy Gone Wild (audio only) https://youtu.be/Fl51bwDf0gw
genre: R&B
note: the cover art is maybe a bit creepy, but not quite to CW levels
TAEHO - COK (μ½ μ§μ΄μ λ§ν΄) π https://youtu.be/gRYCvmEfyV4
genre: R&B
note: Yes, that is really the English title, but I've gone ahead and included the Korean title as well For Reasons. It took me the entire video to figure out his sweatshirt does not, in fact, say anything about donuts, but rather, "too glam to give a damn" π
Ji Hyun Park - Under the cloud (feat. Seung Su Park) (audio only) https://youtu.be/tdnn0xwMtPE
genre: folk rock
Kwon Beumjun - My Dearest https://youtu.be/soBIrOl-6z4
genre: adult contemporary
note: potential hanky warning? It's a happy ending! But, idk, there's something about it...
